Out and About in October

Jasmine Fidow-Maiava

Submerged into the Kingdom

The month began with the youngest of my sisters getting baptised. I found it quite emotional witnessing her faith decision to be submitted to all her heavenly Father has for her. As she arose out of the water it was like seeing her as a baby again. Sweet, innocent and ready for new experiences. Excited about the Kingdom opportunities and possibilities that lay before her. This was a beautiful foretaste of what was to follow in Wellington and the South Island.

Choosing to be a child of the King (or from the Kingdom)

In Wellington I felt the Lord speaking about our ability to choose. We can choose to be weak or strong; rich or poor; happy or sad. Sometimes we want God to give us what we can just choose.

When we are weak or tired, we can choose to rest or we can choose to rise up in His strength. When we don't have enough, we can either give up or understand that He always feeds the hungry. We can choose to be in the natural or from the Kingdom. This usually means choosing differently from what we usually do.

But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” 2 Corinthians 12: 9

Releasing the Kingdom

Speaking at the C3 Christchurch "Abba Father" Women's conference was one of my many highlights. I stepped into a beautifully prepared space where the Holy Spirit was given free reign to do whatever He wanted.

In a city where many had been displaced by earthquakes, I had the privelege to be a part of God's work - a father placing His children - into Himself and therefore into their Kingdom destinies and purposes. We were no longer crying out to a far away God. He made Himself known at the conference. He is an inside God doing an inside job to make an outside impact.

Knowing who we are, who we belong to and where we are from - takes us from "wandering" to "placed". It means that in those places and spaces where we often feel overwhelmed and ill qualified - we can now be confident because we "belong" - to a King. We are from a Kingdom.

Know You Are Royal and therefore You Have Authority

In 1 Samuel 14, Jonathon didn't enquire of the Lord before approaching the Philistine army with his armour bearer. He just declared that God was going to give the enemy's army into their hands and moved in faith. In the natural he is the son of a king and is used to giving orders. He is used to having authority. I believe God heard and saw his faith and authority and responded accordingly.

God responds to Your Faith by sending His Glory.

Isaiah 60 New King James Version (NKJV) - The Gentiles Bless Zion

60 Arise, shine;
For your light has come!
And the glory of the Lord is risen upon you.
2 For behold, the darkness shall cover the earth,
And deep darkness the people;
But the Lord will arise over you,
And His glory will be seen upon you.
3 The Gentiles shall come to your light,
And kings to the brightness of your rising.

The Kingdom is everywhere you are

In Mosgiel we were blessed to hold night meetings in the home of the lovely Linda Wheeler. The meetings were powerfully prophetic but I felt the presence of God more in the conversations over toast and tea. I felt His overwhelming love as I helped Linda on the farm by feeding the lamb. In Mosgiel I became very aware that ministry is not what we do but who we are. The Kingdom is within us. We can experience powerful kingdom moments as we laugh, eat and cry together.

Luke 17:20-21New King James Version (NKJV) The Coming of the Kingdom

20 Now when He was asked by the Pharisees when the kingdom of God would come, He answered them and said, “The kingdom of God does not come with observation; 21 nor will they say, ‘See here!’ or ‘See there!’ For indeed, the kingdom of God is within you.”

The King still saves and heals

Last week I was honoured to be the speaker at a youth revival meeting at a Samoan Bretheren church in West Auckland. They had invited the youth from the local Samoan Congregational Church and Samoan Methodist Church, so the place was filled with younger versions of myself.

As I preached my story I knew there would be salvation and healing. 20 young people gave their lives to the Lord that night and 3 people reported physical healing.

Matthew 12:28 New King James Version (NKJV)

28 But if I cast out demons by the Spirit of God, surely the kingdom of God has come upon you.
