I have found that the prophetic is often about shifting our perspective. It challenges the way we see God, ourselves, others and situations. When we walk in knowledge of who God is, what He is like to us – we will then know who we are and can respond to His prophetic word and promises accordingly.
For a prophecy to be communicated, received and responded to, both the prophet and the recipient must have a biblically sound theology about God, God and them, and God and the world. I find that one of the foundational principals many Christians struggle with is the truth that we are “new creations” in Christ.
2 Corinthians 5:16-18New International Version (NIV)
16 So from now on we regard no one from a worldly point of view. Though we once regarded Christ in this way, we do so no longer. 17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here! 18 All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation:
Lamentations 3:22-24New International Version (NIV)
22 Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed,
for his compassions never fail.
23 They are new every morning;
great is your faithfulness.
24 I say to myself, “The Lord is my portion;
therefore I will wait for him.”
3 And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Look! God’s dwelling place is now among the people, and he will dwell with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. 4 ‘He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.”
5 He who was seated on the throne said, “I am making everything new!” Then he said, “Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.”
You are a new creation! Here are 5 things you must remember about yourself:
1. You are not who you think you are:
Cancel old agreements re who you think you are:
“Limitations aren’t real. They’re simply ideas we’ve agreed to be bound by. Nothing is impossible.” Mike Maeshiro
2. You have no past. History can’t hold you back.
3. There’s only today and tomorrow. You can choose to think differently from now on. Be on purpose about being different from the way you used to think or act.
4. New creation people create new doors, hope, pathways and therefore new results.
5. New creation people have God on the inside not the outside.
Let’s give God thanks for making you, and I, new in every way…
Thank you Father that through your plan of salvation, you made all things new, including me. Thank you for the opportunity to learn the new language, culture and life giving truth that come with being a new creation. Thank you for the new outcomes I am about to experience as you empower me by your Spirit to exercise faith in the prophecies and promises you have for me.
